Reason #9999 not to wear soft-material holsters

An Iowa man says his dog inadvertently shot him while they were roughhousing Wednesday.

Fifty-one-year-old Richard Remme, of Fort Dodge, told police he was playing with his dog, Balew, on the couch and tossed the dog off his lap. He says when the pit bull-Labrador mix bounded back up, he must have disabled the safety on the gun in his belly band and stepped on the trigger.

The gun fired, striking one of Remme's legs. He was treated at a hospital and released later that day.

Was honestly undecided whether to put this in here or in 'mindset and tactics'.

In other words, his dog “ate his homework”?

On the bright side, he didn't opt for junk food.
There's nothing civil about this war.

The truth often lies between the versions of each of the involved parties.

I’d bet $100 he shot himself, inadvertently, and the dog was in the room.

He fancies himself a pistolero, and to preserve his gun counter reputation, he blames the poor pup.

Maybe his pistol was a Nambu.

I think the least of his issues is his choice of holster material.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......

I'm surprised the gun didn't "go off" when he was cleaning it.

Down the road from Quantrill's big raid.
    It's certainly possible.

I know of a case where a dude got shot by his dog while duck hunting that was legit.

Maybe, but having investigated a surprising number of ADs resulting in injury, the vast majority of people who aren't prohibited persons tell the truth to the police (or at least to the detective). They may lie to their buddies (I know one guy who *I* know wasn't wearing a new bandage due to a basketball accident but his buddies didn't), but not to us. Plus, it's pretty easy to tell if the gun went off inside the holster or not.

Prohibited persons, then you get into Warner Bros bullets that took unusual flight paths that somehow went through the pocket lining but not the outer jeans, muggers who stick guns in people's waistband, and hands shot during ninja-type disarms of fictitious bad guys in dark allies.

My favorite one was the security guard who shot himself after a range session with a classic "pull trigger to break down" Glock discharge. I always close my interviews with "Did anyone threaten or coerce you into making this statement? Has everything you told me been the truth? Is there anything you'd like to add or change?" His answers were "No, yes, yeah....I'm a dumbass."
Sorta around sometimes for some of your shitty mod needs.
