    Week 266: Hit Factor 15

    Week 266: Hit Factor 15

Results may be posted until May 27th, 2018.

Designed by: Chris Edwards (Glock Professional, Inc.)
    Range: 3-7 yards
    Target: 4x8" rectangle - Download here - https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/11...63832813347138
    Start Position: Varies, see below
    Rounds Fired: 15

Let's shoot this quick and fun drill that Chris Edwards submitted! Thanks Chris!

3 yards: Begin holstered. At the start signal, draw and shoot 1 shot. Record your time. Repeat four times, for a total of five shots.

5 yards: Begin at ready. At the start signal, shoot 5 shots. Record your time.

7 yards: Begin at ready. At the start signal, shoot 5 shots. Record your time.

Calculate your score as follows: Total your time. Score your target. Hits to the 4x8" rectangle are 5 points each. Misses are 0 points each. Divide your points by your time to determine your hit factor. For example, say you shot 12 hits, 3 misses, and your total time was 10 seconds. You'd have (12x5) 60 points. 60 points divided by 10 seconds = 6.0 hit factor.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

Equipment used (pistol, holster, any optional concealment)
    Time for each string
    Total points
    Hit factor
    Anything you noticed

Gen4 GLOCK 19, Warren/Sevigny night sights, out of a Safariland GLS holster concealed under jacket.
String 1: 1.87,1.68,1.72,1.76,1.76. One mike slightly right.
    String 2: 2.12, clean
String 3: 2.83, one mike slightly left-go figure
    Total: 15.45/65 points
    Hit factor: 4.21
Noted a little sloppy w/mikes. I’ll hit this again for all hits, and drop the time under 15. This has a bit of difficulty not initially evident. I do like the “realistic” target size.
    Thanks

P30L , Comptac International RHOWB. No cover garment. Volund Gearworks Atlas G-hook belt.
    1. 1.15, 1.18, 1.09, 1.1, 1.13
    2. 1.92 -1
    3. 2.66
    Total Score 70
    HF 6.84

What did I notice? I can improve my D1 speed at this range. Was hitting .9's with hits in warmup. Slowed down to assure sight alignment in the actual drill. Probably not 100% necessary at this range with a target of this size.
Need to continue improving support hand grip.

PX4 Compact Carry mod 5, Keepers holster, Volund Atlas belt, from Concealment under a button up shirt. Shot cold at start of shooting session to get a realistic result.

    1) 2.18, 1.73, 1.81, 1.67, 1.44 clean

    2) 2.33 clean

    3) 2.66 one miss

    HF - 5.07

Good drill. Quick to run, but good skills. After doing it I shot the best Dot Torture (5 yds) I’ve ever done. I’m going to add this to the rotation.

    Equipment used:
Glock 26 Gen 4, JM Custom George, Pull-over Fleece concealment

    Time for each string:
    3 yards - 1.29, 1.27, 1.25, 1.19, 1.23
    5 yards - 1.53
    7 yards - 1.85
    Total: 9.61

    Total points:
    75 (15/15)

    Hit factor:
    7.8

    Anything you noticed:
Even with the short grip I can draw the G26 pretty quickly. I have been primarily using a G26 for the past 4 years and (right or wrong) I have gravitated to using a rear sight ledge thumb placement for drawing.

I want to humbly make a correction on first post: time total=13.74;65 points: HF=4.73.
I can’t add, or the phone can’t, or something...
    Got aggressive with this run-
Gen4 19, GLS holster, put concealment aside to concentrate on draw and hits.
    String 1: 1.22,1.24,1.22,1.19,1.20, clean. String 2: 1.79, clean. String 3:1.89, 1 mike(left). Time total=9.74(double checked), 70 points. Hit factor 7.19
Worked at being focused on 5 shot runs-better. Would like clean, under 10 seconds.
Edit: I did three dry fire “warmup” draws/snaps, and believe that helped. I am reminded of Mr. Hearne’s suggestion to start the day with 10 draws being very useful.

Gen5 G19, out of a Safariland GLS paddle under a windbreaker.
    String 1: 1.85,1.76,1.61,1.52,1.74, clean.
    String 2: 2.22(-1)@5yards
    String 3: 3.35(-1)@7yards

4.63 Hit factor. Definitely off my rhythm here, so will hit again in a day or two. Some days are like that...

Equipment was Gen5 G19 w/BOLD sights(front orange), out of unconcealed Safariland GLS paddle holster. XM982 “ball”ammo.
    Indoor range, fully lit.
    String 1: 1.55,1.51,1.51,1.83(double clutched draw),1.42. String2:2.46. String3:2.69. Total = 12.97 seconds.
Clean all runs for 75 points. Hit factor of 5.78.
My focus was on the front sight, and working trigger “carefully”/smoothly/deliberately to assure the hits.
This one gets done again; I am grateful for the clean runs.

    A second run, with:
Gen 4 G19(an old carry companion), Warren/Sevigny night sights(white outline front). 1st five: 1.39,1.44,1.36,1.41, 1.33, out of unconcealed GLS for comparison. 2nd: 2.19 3rd:2.91, all “clean”. 75/12.03= 6.23 hit factor.
That almost full second difference I can attribute to familiarity and slight “practice effect”; I’ve shot the “Four” for several years in GSSF,
Steel and IDPA matches-as I said, old friend.
As an aside, finished up with “Wizard” drills and passed with both by Hackathorn scoring of down a point each. Shot the Gen419 in low light on indoor range with a Surefire wrist light contraption which works pretty well! This will be the combo I’ll see a movie with this weekend, escorting daughters. Y’all be careful out there!
