Sig 226 9mm mag pouches work with 229 357sig mags?

Anyone here have experience using p229 mags in a p226 9mm mag pouch? Specifically Blade Tech?

I have a double and a single pouch from BT for my P226 9mm but it does not appear that it is wide enough to take the p229 357sig mags. Do I just need to loosen up the retention (to the point it is about to fall apart) or is there supposed to be a different pouch for 357/40 mags?

Blade Tech only lists 1 generic 229 listing in their mag pouch sizes . I called Blade Tech and the girl who answered was even more confused than I am.... She said it "definitely might fit, maybe, but we can't guarantee it since they are cut from a generic mold"(????)

So does anyone know for sure? Is the blade tech 9mm 226 pouch supposed to also fit a 357 P229 mag?

Well upon further review if I loosen the tension screws to the point they are barely still in then it will take the P229 357 mag. It is still tighter than one would think is reasonable but it does work. Apparently the 226 9mm mags must be a bit thinner than the 229 357/40 mags.

Adding to the confusion is the fact that Top Gun Supply lists 2 different part numbers for 9mm and 357/40 sig Blade Tech mag pouches. They have one for 226/228/229 9mm and a different one for 229 40/357.....

Sig, in their infinite wisdom, has two different mag widths. One for 226/228/229 (9mm), the other for 229 (40/357) and 229-1 (9mm). Even better is the slide width for 229’s vary by vintage and caliber. The older models with half height serrations are wider for 40/357 than 9mm. I think the newer full height serration slides are similar width for all calibers since the 9mm of that vintage is the 229-1 which uses a 40/357 frame.

The slides even vary within their own generation; i.e. the legacy short extractor Elite slide is wider than the legacy extractor slide. My Legion P229 9mm slide is wider than my M11A1 slide.

Don't know if this will help, but someone I knew who shot a P229 in competition mentioned that she had to twist the magazine or it would hand up when she started using I think Blade-tech or maybe Comp-tac mag holders. Oddly enough, the P226 357/40 mags are the same width as the P226 9mm. The P229 mag was made probably made wider to get the 12th round of 357/40.
