I ran this several times with different guns over a 2 day period.

Best run was clean with a Ruger 9mm PCC carbine. 16.66 HF.

8 shots rather than the usual 6 was interesting. I had a definite left bias on all my shots. With a Bill Drill I usually will walk the last few shots high and right. This is a good drill to see how a gun and ammo system will track for you. This will become one of my regulars.

Even at the least sensitive setting my timer was tracking every shot at the range yesterday so I don't have times or scores. Instead I just ran the test from ready. Since so much of my time is normally on slow drills just trying to go fast is good for me. Actually did better than I expected. Ran 5 strings and had 27 out of 40 in the box. The misses were on the left as expected.

Since I had a 2011 loaner I was evaluating, and a new SIG 320 X5, I decided to run this drill with 3 pistols (including my fave CZ Shadow):

    Shadow 35 points 3.09
    2011 30 points 3.13
    X5 40 points 2.68

    Total: 105 points 8.9 HF=11.79

While I loved the feel of the 2011 in dry fire, the trigger is so light and so short that I kept firing the second round too quickly which threw me off. Conversely, I thought the factory trigger of the X5 was a bit heavy in dry fire, but it shot great.

That's some serious gun porn right there. Sheesh...

    Crazy fast shooting too.

    Week 264: TPC 24

Springfield Range Officer Operator 9mm, Trijicon HDs, Surefire U-boat.

Holster: Safariland ALS on DFA single leg strap shroud.

    3.24 - 2
    3.54 - 1
    2.97 - 0

    Hit factor 10.8

I had a trigger freeze on my second string from not fully resetting that slowed me down. Once I got to my third string I got a lot more aggressive on the gun. I wasn’t tracking my sights as precisely, but I think the recoil control helped make up for it. Overall I don’t think me and the 1911 mesh as well as I’ve been trying to make work...

Glock 17.4, stock besides Trijicon HDXR sights. Surefire U-boat.

Holster: Safariland 7TS, ALS, on DFA single leg strap shroud

    3.12 - 2
    2.78 - 1
    2.64 - 0

    Hit factor: 12.3

The first string after the 1911 was weird. The recoil was obviously more snappy. The next two strings I was more intentional about getting behind the gun again, and was able to pull down my times while keeping the sights going.

Overall the Glock target was more spread out, but I really don’t see me ever going back to carrying the 1911 for work unless something magic happens with my ability to shoot it.

Also, working from a ready position to first shot needs to be added to my training. My draw to first shot is faster than a high muzzle position 3 ready position. No bueno. Totally doesn’t even make sense why, just need to get over the mental block.

Snuck one more in on 5/14, after a week off; it showed: 3.41(-1), 3.28(clean), 2.68(-3!). 100 points/9.37 seconds=10.67 hit factor-even light layoffs hurt. Semi-redeemed myself w/a 98 on the old 5 yard roundup.
The TPC24 was done with Gen5 17. I may very well adapt a John Hearne tactic, and even if not shooting, dry fire(w/revolver/snubby)10-20 times a day, much like he suggests 10 draws before leaving the house.
    I’ll hit this again-thanks

TPC runs this with the carbine as well as the handgun, using the same target, except the distance is 15 yards. Hit factors are lower for most with the carbine, compared to with a handgun. Better run it again at 15 yards!
Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.
