    Week 264: TPC 24

    Week 264: TPC 24

Results may be posted until May 13th, 2018.

    Designed by: Tactical Performance Center
    Range: 7 yards
Target: 4x8" zone (pretty easy to make out of a 8-1/2x11" paper)
    Start Position: high ready
    Rounds Fired: 24

This is a timed and scored drill used at the Tactical Performance Center as a diagnostic and baseline of shooting skill.

Set up the target at 7 yards, have the gun loaded with at least 8 rounds, and start at the high ready.

At the start signal, extend the gun and shoot 8 rounds to the target. Record your time. Repeat twice, for a total of three strings (24 total rounds.)

Score your points on target. Hits to the 4x8 are worth 5 points. Misses are worth 0 points. Total your three string times. Divide points by time to determine your Hit Factor (the final score.)

For example, suppose you had 22 hits and 2 misses. 22 hits x 5 points each = 110 points. Suppose your string times totaled 12.83 seconds. 110/12.83 = 8.57 Hit Factor.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

    Gun used
    Points on target
    Each string time
    Total time
    Hit factor (final score)
    Anything you noticed

GLOCK Gen5/17, Ameriglo three dot night sights, yellow highlighted front.
    Runs: 5.34, 5.00, 5.26; clean, if one edger counted. TOTAL time=15.60. POINTS= 120(115)
    SCORE: 7.69(7.37) Hit factor(s).
This is a good one for timing or setting a cadence. I had a hard focus on front sight, and was aware of cycling the trigger. The target rectangle was smaller than I envisioned before I cut it out of black paper. I’ll hit this again to attack the time.
    Thanks!

Here are two runs I shot this week.

    CZ SP01 120 points, 2.40, 2.43, 2.39 = 7.22 hit factor 16.62

PPS M2 115 points, 3.11, 3.01, 2.91 = 9.03 hit factor 12.69 (the PPS is an amazing shooting little gun)

At TPC two weeks ago, my wife shot a 15.66 HF with her Glock 34 during the course.

I have seen you shoot enough to know that you can do this a lot faster. You just need to believe!

I shot this on a recent occasion and am posting it in case I don't shoot this drill again before the thread closes, though I will certainly try to do so sometime in the next couple of weeks.

    Gen5 G17
    120 points
    2.34, 2.34, 2.38
    7.06 total time

@GJM: Thank you, sir, for the encouragement and target!
@Mr. White: Yikes! I’m going to step it up next week-hit factor in double digits!

    1.89 clean
    1.84 -10

Interesting shooting 8 rounds instead of the typical 6 for a Bill. Relaxation + grip + trigger!

Very conscious of front sight focus, just ran the trigger. A definite improvement; I thank GJM for the encouragement! Next: clean w/a double digit hit factor!
