NRA Annual Meeting, May 2018, Dallas, TX

Anyone been? Going to make it this year. As with my post on the Wanenmacher show--can this thing been done in one day? If so, are any of the days better than others?

I've heard the lines, parking, etc., can be nuts. I can go any day. Was thinking Saturday, but Friday or Sunday is fine. Not going to any side presentations--only the main floor displays

I'm planning to go as it is local to me and I've never been. Haven't looked at the schedule yet, tho.

I went last year when it was in Atlanta. I had a pretty good time...I would go again. Lots of people, and lots of walking though.

I’m going, probably on Friday if I can work my schedule out.

Since you're only interested in the main exhibit hall and mentioned wanting to avoid the crowd, Saturday is probably not the best day (it's always the busiest). One of the primary lines that attendees often complain about is at registration. This line is completely avoidable by pre-registering here: https://prereg.nraam.org

My wife and I went when it was in Houston a few years back. She enjoyed it as much as I did. She reminded me a couple of days ago to book a hotel for this year's. Looking forward to going

I went to the one in Phoenix in 2009 with my son. IIRC it was a weekday. The crowds weren’t bad and we had a good time.
Just a dog chauffeur that used to hold the dumb end of the leash.

Not having been to one before... I assume the NRA has no provision forbidding CCW?

No. We've tried to coordinate venues for the last several years that do not have carry restrictions.

Not exactly local, as we are four-plus hours’ drive to the south, but we will probably be there, at least one day. Based upon a previous visit when the event was in Houston, though not the most-recent time in Houston, the expo part can be done in one day, if hitting the high points is all one cares to do. If one wants to get into longer, deeper conversations, of course, many of the exhibits would be missed, so a multi-day visit would enable more to be seen.

One major reason we want to be there is, naturally, to show personal support for the NRA, and to show our disapproval of the soft-skinned herbivores, by our physical presence.
