Just picked up one of these

new surplus on fleabay for under $100. I don't have any specific plans for it yet, as I have an MC and a Lipsey's 5-inch half-lug, but it seemed like it might be a neat problem solver to have in the tool chest at some point. I measured the Lipsey's gun before buying, and its barrel is really darn close to 0.75 in. diameter. Maybe the world will need a shaved-lug 6-inch down the road.

I kinda like this look. Slightly tapered. Keeps some of the mass for recoil management with heavy loads, but should get rid of a lot of the front heavy feeling.

Done well, it should keep the meaty blockiness of the big GP, while offering the more balanced, traditional stepped look of a shrouded ejector.

It balances the top lug, avoiding the sorta ungainly look the factory Ruger 6-inch half-lug guns have.

Avoids the slabified look of PC S&Ws, which is utterly artless to my eyes.

Note this image started as a 7-shot, so the text on a 6-shot should be completely cleaned up by the cuts. The start of the cut was determined by overlaying an MC image.

A little while ago, I didn't think I needed another GP.
