Thread: Kydex for Smart Carry

    Kydex for Smart Carry

I work in an NPE and because of that I've been using a smart carry for the past three years. Like most things in my life, im pretty hard on them. I was thinking a kydex insert/ pocket holdter might prolong the life of them and I know others have done this. Is there a preferred kydex holster others are using? Any tips on best attachment methods?

What gun are you looking to use?

Dark Star Gear (my company) makes an insert that works for those, belly bands, and the like. Requires a few holes but velcro can work too.

Finally needed a SmartCarry again, so I ordered up one of these kydex shells. Do most people attach these via screws or velcro in this instance? I'm assuming the velcro would need to be sewn in?

Some have used velcro, others screws. Both work well, both require periodic review to ensure things are tight and secure. My personal use stuff has some velcro scraps holding it in.

Keepers Concealment makes kydex inserts for belly bands as well.

I have been trying the Massaro Purebred holster and system out with both their backer mount and their holster with a belly band with a P365. The holster is very nice. It has velcro attachment, it is contoured to help tuck the but of the gun inward, it has adjustable retention via screw and the holster back is super comfortable with great clips.

I have a Smart carry but haven't used the two together. If it fits well all that would be needed is to sew velcro into the Smart carry pouch.

In this last pic you can see how the angle of the moulding of the holster body tucks the but of the grip against the body.
