    Federal XM193F Brown Box 5.56x45

I need a few cases of 5.56x45 ammo - is Federal XM193F Brown Box any good?

    Thanks,
    Chris

All Federal XM193 is the same, the letter designation at the end is simply the type of packaging it comes in. Brown box bulk is the same as the black box "tactical" marked stuff. As far as being good ammo goes, it's hot loaded 5.56 55gr ball. Pretty standard for bulk storage ammo. Some claim the "X" means it was production seconds or rejected military M-193 (http://www.thegunzone.com/556xm.html), I've found it to be reasonably accurate and hot ammo. Make sure you have a true 5.56 chamber and not a .223 chamber.

The other alternative you might look at is the PMC X-TAC QP-193 or IMI M193. About the same cost.

Chris, it's decent M193 type ammo.

I have been having great results with Federal M193, out of a Wilson Combat 1:9 Match 16 inch barrel. Roughly 1 to 1.25 MOA rested/sand bagged on the bench, not bad for a room-broom and non-match ammo.
