So, I picked up one of these:

    https://www.amazon.com/Covert-Homela...001WJ52U6?th=1

In the largest (42") iteration. Seems to fit the bill: holds two long arms, padded, totally generic black rectangle... I’ll see what I get when prime comes through for me after the 3-day weekend.

    That does look interesting....
Looks more “low profile” than “discrete” or “covert,” but would meet my needs 90% of the time.

Please let us know how you like it once it arrives.

Looks nice. Wish the sizes weren’t so weird. But its UTG which doesn’t inspire my confidence in stitching.

Not bad, a 49 key case is 37x15... that’ll give almost 40" on the daigonal.

I was going to ask, how many long guns are you toting at once? If it's just a couple .22s, that bag by the air soft specialists should be OK, ass-you-me'ing it's just to the car, from the car to the range, and back.

If you need more, one of my fellow local NRA instructors goes to pawn shops and buys hard sided golf club cases cheap. I think he's gotten it to the point where two cases haul everything needed for a "well equipped" Home Firearm Safety class.

ETA: Plus, SKB makes one, that looks like a golf club case but is sturdy enough for guns: Roto-Molded Top loading 50" Rifle Case, Roto-Molded Top loading 46" Rifle Case

So, I got the (air)soft case the other day, and I had a chance to put it into service swinging by the range today.

In all, perfect for my needs. Looks like a soft gig bag for an electric bass or something; balances well, and got the Henry Lever, the Winny 61 pump, and my old flatgate single-six (in the side zipper pocket) to and from the range; no fuss, no issues.

Problem solved, for my needs--which pretty much revolve around getting the vintage stuff out the door without getting Forrest Whittaker eye from the public, for a day of throwback-era shooting.

Perfect. Two thumbs up on the 42" Amazon el cheapo.
