I went out to the desert last weekend to shoot. Thanks to this forum I actually worked on some drills instead of my normal target shooting/plinking. Thanks for the encouragement & motivation!
My groups were good (for me) for the first 125-150 rounds. About that time I realized that my accuracy was going down so I took another break to relax. When I went back to the drill, I could not focus on the front sight! I had Lasik surgery about 12 years ago & my distance vision is good. I have been using 1.25 cheaters for reading for the past 4-5 years. I tried shooting with both eyes open since that really helped last time I was shooting the mini 14 (iron sights) but it was a big no go with the pistol.
I've heard about eye exercises that you can do to help strengthen the muscles around the eye & help keep from getting tired. However, since not being able to focus close up is more of my lens not relaxing enough I don't see how eye exercises will help.
Do any of you do eye exercises or have you done them in the past? If so, what did you do & what were the results?
By the way, I put on my cheaters at the end of the practice session, could focus on the front sight and groups/accuracy were as good & maybe better than at the start of the session. I don't like to practice with the cheaters because I don't wear them when I'm outside & often don't have any with me.
I look forward to your comments.
