    Picked up a 3" S&W Model 65-5

    I blame this forum

My 65-5, used but very clean. Need to paint the front sight otherwise I don't plan to change it.

Swapped the grips onto my M66 2.5" and put on a pair of Pachmayr's, my favorite K-frame round butt grips:

Range day on Friday. Have to dig out my K-frame speedloaders...

My $300 project gun DAO 65-3 is one of my favorite ever revolvers. Best trigger ever. Nice purchase.

Nice! Decent 3" 65s are getting pricey.

I guess so! There's currently a very nice 3" 65-6 (definitely not the most desirable versions of the 65...) up on the S&WForum for $730!
I've owned a couple that I ended up reselling (ugh) but I still have a real nice P&R 3" 13-2 in the safe...

Nice find. I’ve bern wanting a 3” M13 but they bring scalpers prices. I have a pair of 3” 65s I stumbled on for decent prices.

For the M65, in addition to painting the front sight, I suggest blacking out the rear sight cut and trough with paint or a sharpie. It will help shooting in sunlight or when backlit as on some indoor ranges.

Black nail polish for the rear sight. For the front, a layer or two of white nail polish, then a color coat over that (red, orange, green, yellow, whatever). The white makes the color stand out. it's easy to repair. And if you don't like it, a little bit of acetone and it all comes off.

The 97-cent stuff works as well as anything else.

That is a beautiful revolver! I'm very jealous. The 65 is one that I've loved for decades... The siren song of semi-autos kept tempting me away, but maybe this year I need to set some revolver goals!
