Just checked, I think I’m good. It does feel a little lighter now. Thank you!

My trigger weight tester doesn’t have a round edge, so I think I’m getting bad results. I’m trying to pull straight back from the center of the rounded portion of the trigger. I’ll play around and see if I can find a consistent method.

Back to holsters for the .45 PX4.

I’m not having any luck finding a Kydex holster that I like. How much larger is a .45 slide over a full size 9 or .40? I’m thinking I could ask Tony to cut an OWB2 a tad long and then I can do some heat gun magic.

    I use a lyman gauge w/ my 92s.

I slide the small round plastic piece along the inside of the trigger guard. If you start in the middle of the trigger your #s will shoot up quite a bit due to the reduced leverage. The puller will settle at somewhere around half the length of the trigger. I also angle my pull some at the beginning to help keep the puller from sliding up the trigger face. IE if holding the gun w/ the barrel horizontal, I start w/ the puller angled down maybe 30degrees. As the trigger gets more toward the rear I bring the puller up so near the end of it's travel I am pulling in parallel w/ the barrel. For a while I thought maybe I was gaming the technique. But; 1- that is where my finger runs when shooting the gun and, 2- my #s seem to correlate well w/ other people's results w/ similar parts installed.

I think a round trigger shoe like on that one would work much better than the Wheeler I bought - time to do a return.

Kydex can be rough on the finish (very scratchy) unless done well. The .45 is beefier in a few dimensions, not enough that some holsters can't accommodate both. Holster makers that I've talked to have separate molds for the .45. There is no set rule, depending upon how tightly the holsters for a .40 are made.

It’s not much but I want to say it’s roughly around a half inch longer than the 40/9mm full-size slide. I have both a full-size 45 Storm and a 40 full-size Storm and the leather Beretta pancake holster I bought from Beretta’s site will not fit my 40.

But yeah, if you have a heat gun, I don’t think it would take much to re-form it to fit. I had to do that with a kydex holster I have that was originally made to fit my Springfield XDE with a rail laser to fit my compact 9mm Storm that has a trigger guard laser. Turned out pretty good, I just have to apply a little more heat to it to loosen up the grasp around the trigger guard because it has an insane amount of retention….lol.

I have also had good luck 'loosening up' kydex holsters w/ a heatgun. You do need to be careful though. I also started playing around making kydex holsters and one thing I was surprised to find is, when you heat kydex, it wants to go back to being flat. So, for instance, to just loosen the trigger guard area, I often use one of those long BBQ lighters and heat from the inside. That way I can heat just a small area. And, if I mess up a little and change the surface look of the kydex, it is on the inside so no one will see it. I have also had some luck changing the molded plastic holsters. They take more heat so it is easy to burn the surface. You can't change as much as you can w/ kydex but the holsters have other advantages. I was looking in a store one day for a holster for my M&Pc but all they had was for a full size. Bought it, came home and cut the extra length out of it. I left it 1/4-5/16inch too long and then used heat to close over the end a little so it didn't look like an obvious hack job.

    Palmetto Leather

I had Palmetto Leather make me a IWB and OWB holster for the PX4 45 SD. Told them to make the holster a tad longer to protect the extended barrel

Palmetto Leather doesn't list it, but they do a good job of covering the rest of the Beretta line-up, so it may be worth a call https://www.palmettoleather.com

Got the new .45 out for a first run. I didn’t shoot it as much as I would have liked (it was the fourth gun I shot today, I was tiring and starting to hurt) but it shot exceptionally well. I’m happy.
