Thread: Beretta PX4 Storm .45 High round count, long duration usage.

    90,800

My PX4 Storm .45 G range pistol is now @90,800 rounds. Everything is working smoothly and well.

@89,000 I changed the slide rebound spring (guide rod assembly). I put in a slightly used spring from my EDC which put 914 rounds on it. I aim to get 3,000 rounds more out of this spring.

@90,800 rounds I did a total disassembly and detail cleaning of all frame and slide parts. I put in a new o-ring. The old one was tearing and hanging on by a thread for the last 1k rounds. It did stay put.

My D hammer spring has 61,100 rounds on it. No light strikes.

    95,000

95,000 rounds on my PX4 Storm .45 G. Everything is running smoothly and performing perfectly.

@93,500 I changed the slide rebound spring (guide rod assembly) for the 20th time.

@94,700 I disassembled the slide for a detailed cleaning of the firing pin channel, slide internal surfaces and all internal slide parts.

I have 65,300 rounds on the D spring with no light strikes. Trigger pulls are holding @ 5.75 lbs DA and 3.2 lbs SA- crisp, clean and smooth.

100,100 rounds through my PX4 .45 G, still going strong!

@98,600 I changed the guide rod assembly.

The D spring has 70,400 rounds on it with no light strikes.

Trigger pulls are: DA 5.75 lbs, SA 3.2 lbs, smooth and even, no stacking.

I will do a 100% disassembly of the slide and frame for detailed cleaning. I will put in a new decocker lever pin, new extractor pin and a new o-ring.

I will test all springs and parts for fit and feel, relubricate and get back to the range.

    Off schedule parts changed...

When doing my 100% disassembly of slide and frame I did not like the way the strut pin went in... too easily. I replaced it with a new one @100,100 rounds.

While at the range the last 2 times I noticed the trigger pin drifting out. It was easy to push back in and continue. It only drifted 3x in 600 rounds. When I disassembled to inspect I found that the trigger return spring had a missing leg. Even though it was broken and lost 50% of trigger return strength, it was still shooting and cycling just fine, even rapid fire.

I replaced the trigger return spring and trigger pin @101,600. The trigger spring had 51,600 rounds on it, the pin was the original.

This thread has been pushing me to get another PX4. My 40 cal was my first pistol and still the pistol I have the most rounds on. For all the grief .40 gets, I trust this pistol over literally anything in my inventory to shoot when I pull the trigger.

I put a .45 PX4 on layaway the other day. I have a spring kit ready for it. I think it has the Small back strap installed & does not have the other sizes. I prefer the medium on my .40 PX4’s. Will the .45 take the same back straps as my fullsize .40?
