Thread: S&W model 66

Finally got to a range with the Smith and OWA. Had a blast! Range Officer had never seen an OWA. He kept asking if I wanted to fire it. Offered him a chance to shoot it, which he gladly accepted! The Smith is spot on for a newbie. Already looking forward to my next time.

OWA is an Austrian made semi auto 25 cal that was made between 1921-1925. Only 4000 or so were imported to the US. See my thread in the semi auto section for pics.

Cool little gun! Thanks for pointing it out.

I stand corrected. The white sights were installed for the first 18 months or so of production. The subsequent no dashes had the RR/black sights.

I guess I could add a picture of my Dad’s old 66. He claims he got it from a guy who carried it while he worked for the Highway Patrol.

Looks very similar to mine. Like the checked wood grips.

I bought a no dash that looks just like AdioSS back in 1976 at a gun shop in Denver that was an S&W authorized police supplier. I had two blue 4 inch 19-3 at the time and ended up selling the 66 to a friend I worked with. At that time I paid about $160 for it new in box.
