This one was frustrating to watch.

Victim No. 1, showed the officers a photograph of Swenor on his cell phone and directed the officers to Swenor’s location. The officers’ proceeded up to the lower-level mezzanine, where they observed Swenor who was also in possession of a knife.

The officers made contact with Swenor and repeatedly ordered him to drop the knife, however, Swenor failed to comply with the officers’ commands. Swenor fled to the upper-level mezzanine, where he approached Victim No. 2, a 74-year-old, female, Hispanic and struck her in the head with an unknown object. Yes. I believe they were issuing the Stacatto P with Leupold Delta point, same as US Marshals SOG. However, I noticed in this video one of the officers appears to have a Holosun 509 tea and the other has a DeltaPoint.

JSO SWAT is Jared Reston’s old unit so I’m not surprised they are switched on.

California Police Officer Shot During Gunfight With Burglary Suspect

San Luis Obispo, California — On May 10, 2021, at approximately 5 p.m., six SLOPD officers were serving a search warrant to 35-year-old Edward Giron for possible stolen property related to a series of late-night commercial burglaries that have taken place over the week. As the officers approached the apartment, they provided “knock and notice” identifying themselves as law enforcement as required by California Penal Code 844. After an extended period of time and having received no response, they forced open the front door. Giron was laying in wait and began to fire shots at the officers from inside the apartment. The first shot hit and killed Detective Luca Benedetti. In the video, the department redacted the moment using a black square. It’s followed by several ensuing shots, but Giron is not seen.

The surrounding officers quickly ran down the stairs to safety as Giron fired more shots, and the officer behind the body-cam footage radioed to the department "Shots fired, shots fired, he's got a gun, he's shooting at us, all units, all units." After killing Benedetti, Giron came out on the stairwell and continued shooting at officers. One of those shots injured Detective Steve Orozco, who was shot in the arm and head. He did survive his injuries but according to police, he sustained long-term effects from that day. Giron took Benedetti's rifle from his body and continued shooting at the officers from his elevated position outside his apartment. Two officers, including the one wearing the body camera, returned fire at Giron, striking him, and Giron retreated back inside his apartment. Shortly after, a single shot was heard. Giron shot and killed himself with the officer’s service rifle. Through the investigation, more stolen items were located inside Giron’s home.

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - The Sparks Police Department is releasing body camera footage of an officer involved shooting that took place in the Ironhorse Shopping Center on May 30.

They say that on that day, Sparks Police Dispatch received multiple 911 calls saying a woman was yelling for help in the 600 block of East Prater Way. Callers reported a man was carrying a machete yelling at the woman in the parking lot of the Iron Horse Shopping Center.

Callers described the suspect as a white man with long hair, wearing a hoodie and dark pants.

When officers arrived, they located the man matching the description, and tried to stop him. The suspect was given multiple commands to stop but ignored them and began running. Officers observed he was holding a knife in his hand during the pursuit.

He was told to drop the knife, but he did not. While officers were running towards the suspect, he turned and ran at the officers with the knife still in his hand. Officers then fired their guns at the suspect, striking him.

Officers provided medical aid until relieved by responding medical personnel. The suspect was transported to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced dead..."

Do you know if fugitive apprehension is a primary job of that team?
