Beware of my temper, and the dog that I've found...
Not a shooting, but the cousin of Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors was arrested with the use of a taser following a car accident where he was clearly in a deranged, paranoid state. He was taken to the hospital and died 4 hours later from a medical emergency. Preliminary tests indicate cocaine and pot usage.
You can guess how this is being reported, but I’m really surprised that it hasn’t gotten more coverage.
Hard to watch because the guy clearly was scared shitless. Drug induced paranoia can do that. I think at one point he said C Lo was trying to kill him? Thought that guy just made goofy videos for goofy songs.
Poo sandwich cause you can't let him go, and you're going to need to use force to contain him. Critics of the taser will say that contributes....but so would an extended wrestling match with 4 cops while your heart is in a coke induced sprint. No real chance of a good outcome for this dude. Have no idea what kind of guy he was, and I don't hold his relations against him. But yeah.....sad to watch.
OIS of a home burglary suspect armed with an AR pistol.
November 23, 2022, at 11:57 a.m., Chandler Police received a 911 call of a suspicious vehicle backed into a resident’s driveway. The resident, who was not home, was viewing their home video surveillance after a motion detection alert, when they observed the vehicle. The resident had observed a male, later identified as 30-year-old Cody Allan Smestad, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, wearing a white mask, and white pants, inside the home. The resident reported the male was carrying a hammer. Officers arrived and positioned at the front of the home, near the unoccupied suspect vehicle and west garage, waiting for additional units to arrive. An assisting detective arrived and took a position to the south looking into the back yard of the home.
The officers at the front of the home heard noises inside the garage and minutes later the garage door opened. Inside officers observed Smestad, dressed in hiding behind the rear of a vehicle. Officers issued commands to Smestad ordering him to show his hands and not move. Smestad ignored these commands and ran back inside the home. The second officer proceeded down the side of the home into the backyard. The detective ordered Smestad numerous times to disarm himself, but he did not comply. As Smestad began positioning himself around the corner armed with the rifle, the detective looking into the backyard feared for the life of the officer in the backyard and fired on Smestad resulting in the first officer shooting.
Both officers continued giving order to Smestad to disarm himself for approximately thirty seconds, but Smestad did not comply. Smestad moved around the patio still armed, not complying with the police commands, where he turned his body toward the second officer. The second officer perceived an imminent threat resulting in the second officer shooting striking Smestad. Police secured Smestad, removed him to the front and provided medical aid until the arrival of the fire department personnel. A search of the home was conducted, and no additional suspects were found. Smestad was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. No officers or community members were injured during this incident.
Kern County Sheriff, California. Deputy takes a grazing round to the head when trying to make contact with a guy who was attempting to break into cars at a trailer park.
So Valez gets head shot, deploys with his patrol rifle, remains calm on the radio and with his back-up deputy, and is still cop sarcastic ("Took some meat? Tragic.")
I want to be like him when I grow up. Glad he's still in the fight.
Sgt appears to be wearing his duty gun in a chest mounted holster which is a bit unusual. Duty gun is a Glock with Holosun optic.
Mt. Juliet, Tennessee — On November 2, 2022, shortly after 11 p.m. Mt. Juliet Police officers pulled over a car that was driving on S. Mt. Juliet Road around 11 p.m. An officer spoke with the woman driving the car outside the vehicle, then a second officer went to speak with 39-year-old Eric Jermain Allen, who was in the passenger seat. The officer told them they were speeding, they have a headlight out and issues with their tags. The two told the officer they don’t have a registration, insurance or valid driver’s licenses. Officer asked Allen to exit the vehicle. Allen rolled the window up, moved into the driver’s seat, and started to drive off. In the video, you can see the officer, initially leans into the car in an attempt to stop him, before being taken with the vehicle. Within seconds, Sergeant Josh Lo shoots Allen and the vehicle came to a stop. Officers attempted to render aid, but Allen died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
