Gastonia, NC. This is what we refer to as a “screw up”.

*watches video of a shooting that unfolded over the course of literally seconds, with an armed suspect charging an officer screaming "kill me"*
"Well, gosh," I think. "I might as well read the comments, since this could literally be in a law school class for what a self-defense justification means."
I never learn.

With bodycams, a lot of commenters are looking to see a weapon on video, which is blurred here and not secured on camera that I could see.
I've seen a few videos where the weapon is intentionally filmed on the ground. That seems like a best practice in the social media age where a video is a lot more credible than a written report.

I agree. Just sucks that it has to be that way. And it’s never going to make everyone happy. There seems to be that societal subset that just eagerly loves hating cops. Been a cop’s kid and brother my entire life and it still hurts me, I still don’t get it.
I’m an attorney. The hate for us is a JOKE compared to the hate for cops these days. If they had any idea what a smart man in a suit could do if he lacks scruples, what utter havoc we can cause with a smile and a pen-stroke. But nope, cops get the hate, whether it makes sense or not.
