Attorney: They sent officer into an ambush and he was executed

At the time of the shooting, a spokeswoman for Homeland Security told KOAT Officer Jarrott was helping Homeland Security on a narcotics investigation involving Cueva.

"Why was Officer Jarrott asked to pull over someone who federal agents knew had semi-automatic weapons with no backup?" asked Sam Bregman, the attorney for Jarrott's widow and family.

"Homeland Security agents showed up within 30 seconds after this horrific shooting wearing tactical gear. They knew exactly the person they were dealing with. Officer Jarrott didn't and they never told him," Bregman said.

Once again the shotgun is a fairly definitive solution.

Struggle starts about 1:20... cop gun malfunction at about 1:50... painfully slow immediate action remedy. More gunfight happens about 6:30. Folks...Practice clearing a malfunction!!! Seriously, it took this guy forever (16 seconds) to get that gun back into the fight. If the bad guy had more fight in him, the officer recording would be dead.

Preaching to the choir here... but “TAP, RACK”... (not working)... “LOCK, RIP, RACK-RACK-RACK, RELOAD, READY”
“A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.” - Shane

That is all I was thinking watching it.. having done remedial on a m4 during a fight, training matters and it was clear he had not trained nearly enough.

Yeah...we use "LOCK, RIP, WORK, LOAD, READY".....but same thing. That was a painfully slow clearance, I agree.

Even more on point for several of the other ongoing threads/discussions about police use of deadly force....that guy was screaming the whole time he was fighting that he was doing what they asked....while fighting to get his gun. Then after the "Bang"...
claimed he had dropped the gun, and had his hands up, when he was clearly looking to gain an advantage and kill a cop. News flash America....asshole criminals lie and do asshole criminal stuff.

Subject was found passed out in a vehicle in what I'm assuming is a suburb of Colombus OH. Suburban police and EMS respond, transport subject to the hospital, discover he has gun and domestic violence warrants out of Colombus and notify CPD to come pick up their warrant subject at the hospital.

Here is the full BWC video from the hospital and BWC video from prior to his transport by ambulance.

Before the suspect was transported by ambulance, the initial contact officer asks if he has any weapons on him and he claims he does not. The Officer then does a cursory pat down with negative results.

During a more thorough secondary search prior to Colombus PD taking custody of him on his warrants, an officer locates a gun hidden in the suspects groin, at which point the suspect reaches into his groin for the gun resulting in the struggle and shots fired.

Don't want to beat a dead horse, but John Correia at Active Self Protection has a video breakdown of this shooting and his analysis corresponds with my original statement. The officer who made the hostage rescue shot used a two handed grip to resolve the situation.

The officer who used a SHO grip fired a second later, but the hostage taker was already dropping from the first officer's shot. John's analysis:
