    I noticed that as well. However, a positive takeaway from this video is the controlled cadence in which the second officer delivered rounds. Really impressive work.

    Been there. Thought I'd killed him, but just knocked him out of his shoes and he was up and running again before I was fully stopped. Nothing came of it, but it was a terrible feeling at first.

    All policing is regional. I've heard it outside LA but AFAIK that is a CA / west coast thing.

    Houston PD, in Texas, too. We identified our vehicles my “shop number,” which is stamped on the keys, and, in the case of marked vehicles, is displayed in small numerals on a window. After a while, saying “Shop Number such-and-such” evolved into calling all PD vehicles “shops.”

    Regarding LAPD and HPD both using the terminology, it could be parallel evolution, or, one copying the other’s jargon. For a while, LAPD was the glamour PD of the USA, so much copied by other PDs.
