This is from last year and may have already been posted in here, but I'm curious if anyone has any insight as to the cause of the stoppage around the 16:25-16:33 mark, which is pretty easily visible if you playback at 0.25 speed.

The thumb behind the slide? The one handed shooting?

Not Monday morning quarterbacking, I doubt my form would be great with a truck barreling at me, just curious how to avoid that sort of stoppage.

Of course, i was not there and have no personal knowledge of the situation, but the thumb behind slide grip will usually (always?) cause a problem and that clearly occurred here. That is where I would place my bet.

A grand jury indicted a Bowie, Maryland, police officer on a charge of attempted murder for firing his gun at a man on a busy road last month. About 8 a.m. Sept. 12, Sgt. Robert Warrington stopped on Collington Road near Route 50 to check on a white SUV parked on the side of the road. A man who asked to remain unidentified told News4 he was trying to retrieve his hat that had blown away while his girlfriend and children remained in the SUV. As the man walked past Warrington on his way back to the SUV, he appeared to have one hand over his stomach with the other hand holding a white cloth or T-shirt that appeared to have blood on it. “Are you here to help her?” Warrington asked. “Nah, she’s taking me to the hospital,” the man replied. Moments later, Warrington fired a shot. “He had a gun. He had a gun,” he said. “I don’t have a gun,” the man said. A woman screamed, “What did you do? What did you do? What did you do? Why did you do that? Why did you that?” “I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” Warrington said. The gunshot hit a passing minivan. Luckily, no one was injured. “As soon as my ears stopped ringing, I turned around and asked the officer why did he shoot me,” he said. He said he instinctively pulled out his phone to try to capture the shocking encounter. “The video that was provided by the Bowie City Police Department, it speaks for itself,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy said. “The actions were not in line with the training or the orders of the Bowie City Police Department.” Bowie Police Chief Dwayne Preston issued a statement that reads, in part, “I support the grand jury’s independent objective process. Sgt. Warrington will be suspended without pay.” Warrington is a 12-year veteran of the Bowie Police Department. He faces charges including attempted second-degree murder and reckless endangerment.

Austin Police Officers Shoot Suspect After Armed Robbery and Carjacking Spree

Austin, Texas — On Thursday, November 7, 2024, at approximately 3:11 a.m., a Bee Cave Police Department (BCPD) officer spotted an orange Ford Ranger truck traveling at a high rate of speed westbound in the 12500 block of Hwy. 71. The officer activated his emergency lights, and the vehicle stopped. When the officer exited his patrol car, the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed and turned northbound onto FM 620. The vehicle continued driving at high speeds and began driving northbound in the southbound lanes through the City of Lakeway. As oncoming vehicles were having to move out of the subject vehicle’s way to avoid being hit, the BCPD officer terminated the pursuit out of an abundance of caution. The BCPD officer then alerted APD that the subject might possibly be in the area of FM 620 and FM 2222. At 3:14 a.m., the Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) received a call from dispatch asking for assistance regarding a subject fleeing a traffic stop and heading northbound in southbound lanes of traffic on FM 620. At 3:20 a.m., the TCSO deputy lost site of the vehicle and the pursuit was terminated.

At approximately 3:38 a.m. the subject, later identified as 27-year-old Zachary Labrie, can be seen on Ring doorbell camera footage pulling into an apartment complex parking lot at 9501 N FM 620 in an orange Ford Ranger truck. The subject exited the vehicle wearing a mask, carrying a shotgun, and approached an apartment front door. He proceeded to kick in the front door of the apartment. A few minutes later, he can be seen leaving the apartment and driving away. At approximately 4:42 a.m., Austin 9-1-1 received a call from a female stating that a masked man with a gun approached her as she sat in her car at the Starbucks located at 7710 N FM 620. The man told her to leave everything in the car and get out. He then proceeded to flee the scene in her vehicle, a black Nissan Sentra. At 6:27 a.m., Austin 9-1-1 received a call from a man stating that a man armed with a gun approached him in the parking lot of the HEB located at 7301 N FM 620 and forced him to hand over his car keys. The man handed the subject his keys and the subject left the scene in his vehicle, a black Nissan Rogue.

When APD Robbery Detectives arrived on scene, they located the first stolen vehicle, black Nissan Sentra, unoccupied in the HEB parking lot. APD’s Violent Crimes Task Force learned that the subject might be in the area of 9501 N FM 620 through investigative efforts and were staged at this location when they saw the subject matching the description from the two previous robberies. One of the officers identified himself as Austin Police and told the subject to get on the ground. The subject fled from the officer on foot. The detective then attempted to make contact with the subject, but he continued fleeing on foot. The detective told the subject to stop, and as the subject was running, he turned towards the detective and pointed a handgun at him. All three officers and the detective fired their Department-issued weapons, striking the subject. At 8:47 a.m. shots taken was announced over the radio. The officers and Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) attempted life-saving measures however, the subject was pronounced deceased at 9:03 a.m.

Thanksgiving Day barricade in Volusia County that was ended by a SWAT sniper. Accounts say the suspect had a pistol, shotgun, and Tommy gun, which sounds like BS. However, he was previously convicted on unspecified weapons violations, and it sounds like a SMG.

The king line from the video is instruction to the Rook operator: "Expect to get shot at. Don't let it freak you out."

Deputy Hits Man With Patrol Vehicle After Suspect Pulls Out Gun

Flagler County, Florida — On January 4, 2025, just before midnight, Deputy Christopher Murphy was conducting patrols in the W-Section of Palm Coast when he observed a male, later identified as 38-year-old Michael McDermott, on the sidewalk alongside Pine Lakes Parkway standing next to a bicycle on the ground. Deputy Murphy attempted contact with McDermott, but McDermott picked up the bike and began to ride away. Deputy Murphy activated his emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop on McDermott. McDermott appeared to comply, slowing down enough for Deputy Murphy to stop and exit his car, only to then pedal quickly away, turning onto Westminster Drive.

Deputy Murphy got back into his patrol vehicle and attempted to catch up with McDermott. As Deputy Murphy turned onto Westminster Drive, he observed McDermott pulling a firearm out of his pants. Deputy Murphy, fearing that McDermott would engage him with the firearm, struck McDermott with his vehicle, ejecting him from the bicycle and causing him to drop the firearm. Deputy Murphy then secured McDermott without further incident with the assistance of Deputy Michael Anderson, who had arrived as backup within seconds of the incident.

A 9-millimeter Ruger firearm was recovered near McDermott, who was found wearing a holster for the weapon. McDermott was arrested for Assault or Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting an Officer with Violence, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was transported to AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway due to a minor injury to his right ankle. After being treated and released, he was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. McDermott has an extensive arrest history in Flagler County since 2013 and prior to his arrest had been released from the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on December 17, 2024, after serving a 90-day sentence for Possession of Fentanyl.
