RFI: Christmas pocket knife for nephew

A little late to the party!

I bought three nephews and my niece - Opinels - each engraved with their names. I mucked up at bought them #5s which do not lock, the #6 does lock. None-the-less they were well received. Order direct from Opinel and you can add engraving. FYI, the factory edges are a little - meh - so I had them tuned up by my local knife shop.

A friend bought me one of those 20 or so years ago after I commented on his. He was a painter and never sharpened it, so it was dull as can be. I told him it was more of a pocket shim than pocket knife — he thought that was funny. I really liked it and carried it for years.

The gov't used to issue the Gerber LST (in a couple sizes) which was essentially the same design. I got a lot of mileage out of those knives and I think there are a couple still around the house somewhere.
