    Whoa. Pretty far out.

The article provided me some amusement: the description of the Shark’s nationality, combined with his old-man fucked-up eyes, and that picture (he looks like a shark muppet, like those guys in the balcony... seriously, if you asked a cartoonist to draw "curmudgeon old man shark", they’d draw the toothless looking thing in the pic...) totally makes me snicker.

"In my day, we swam in schools... uphill, both ways..."

Somebody buy that old fish fart a cigar and a shot of scotch.

That shark was 14 years old when Cortez began his conquest of the Aztec empire...

Marine biologist Julius Nielsen found that an 18-foot Greenland shark his team had been studying was at least 272 years older and possibly as much as 512 years old.

    ...

By measuring the size of the recent Greenland shark found, researchers suggest the animal could have been born as early as 1505...
Putting on my hat that translates from sensationalistic "journalism" BS to technical reality, this reads like they have a confidence window (typically 90-95 percent or thereabouts) that the shark is somewhere between 272 and 512 years old, which centers on 392 years old.

    Still an old f'ing shark.

For comparison purposes, nine generations of my paternal line goes back 389 years. He could have been eating my earliest Nordic ancestors.

Getting even for all that lutefisk they'd been consuming.

(Guess it proves it's better to be a predator than prey.)

Thank you! I could not come up with a clever way to get that reference in.
