Thread: Serious Accuracy

    Serious Accuracy

A friend is looking for a better pistol for PPC Production, excellent accuracy required.
DA/SA preferred, DAO or Tricky Trigger allowed, no SAO.
Few modifications from stock permitted. He wants a neck hold but I don't think it is feasible with the short list of sights allowed.

This is the old FBI PPC with 24 out of 60 rounds on the B27 at 50 yards, the usual internet criterion of "one ragged hole at 7 yards" does not compute.

I let him shoot my German P226 which he liked pretty well, better than his well worn Beretta or Ruger P90.
He says he would like to rack up one more Distinguished badge and Production is about what is left.

If money is no issue, a used CZ accushadow should hold 3" at 50yds. Im not sure what the rules are regarding sights, but one version of the accushadow came with an elevation adjustable rear sight

One of my CZ-75Bs was a 1.5" at 25 yards gun. It probably still is, and I still have it, but I turn 66 next week and my ability to see the sights that well is history. A good trigger job and new sights are all it would need.

Here are some helpful links to the PPC Production rules:

It’s been a decades since I shot PPC competitively (Master class) but it’s all about mechanical and practical accuracy. Equipment is a critical component due to the accuracy requirements all the way to the 50 yard line.

Like any sport, some gun and sight combinations will be more represented that others because they make winning easier within the rules.

I'd pick my gun/sight/ammo combination based on what the top 10 at the national level shoot.

Swiss-produced old-school SIG P210. With either adjustable rear sights, or the Von Stavenhagen set-up.

    Boom!

    Best, Jon

I just wish there were matches available around me to shoot. PPC is all but gone in North TX.

Same back in LA apparently. Louisiana isn’t even on the drop down menu at the NRA website to filter upcoming matches. Far cry from back in the day when many agencies fielded PPC teams.

I wish we could say that agencies are competing in other competitions but teams have become a victim to budgets I think. For the couple of years I shot on LSP’s team, I had access to about as much training ammo as I wanted and, more importantly, acces to folks like Ed Nixon who were true national record holders.

Thinking about PPC reminds me of LSP972. Steve was a real wizard with a revolver back in those days. Not a super big pool of High Master 1490 Club members.

Dave Sams can set up a 92FS for extreme precision as he did for the AMU for a long time. 1.3" for 10 shots at 50 yards guarantee.

Page indicates a pretty long wait. But it's best to check directly if interested. It varies.
