I'll probably never have a genuine Anso but I'll make do with these...

Finally! I managed to rescue this one from USPS Jail. I commissioned this piece for a friend who has just started his Army career. He earned his jump wings at Benning a couple of weeks ago ago and is now goinng through SF selection. I figure a Grunt who has jump wings, could use a ‘Chute Knife.
This one was made by John April of Goshen, MA. A single hunk of Peter’s Heat Treated CPM-154. Blade length a little longer than usual (5.5”). Black micarta with yellow liners, Loveless-style “eye bolts”, double guard is pinned and soldered, and a black leather veg tanned sheath. John was fantastic throught the process and produced a great knife for my friend to carry with him as duty calls. Balance is perfect with this knife being long but not overly heavy, it balances just behind the guard. It sits firm in the hand and is quick to transition. I like it so much, I kind of wish it was going to be mine. But alas, this one is off to a good home.
Most impressive to me is John’s work shaping and tapering the scales. He manages to get an almost damascus-like pattern from the Micarta. True talent!
