I bought one in 1994 when I lived just down the road from their Bozeman, MT factory. It was the model they now call the BSR-2 mount. I have not seen a recently produced version first hand, but my old one was simply fantastic in design and execution.

Anybody ever put something like this in an SUV?

I drive an old (97) 4runner and have never come up with a satisfactory long gun setup.

Somewhat humourously, this kind of thing is totally legal in Canada, although...uncommon in urban areas. But you get out into Letterkenny country and they're all over the place.

Anyway if anyone has thoughts about the workability of this kind of thing in a small SUV, I'm all ears.
This is a thread where I built a boat I designed and which I very occasionally update with accounts of using it, which is really fun as long as I'm not driving over logs and blowing up the outboard.

I mounted mine to the ceiling of an old Dodge Ramcharger. It was a simple-minded hunting and fishing rig so I didn't mind running some 1/4-20 bolts through the roof of the truck. I topped each bolt head with a little silicone caulking and never had any trouble. I suspect there are more elegant solutions but that was mine.

If you click the 'other buyer' link on amazon for the product page, Balkowitsch Enterprises is selling it for $78.23 and free shipping.
