Honestly, I think getting a good deal on a type 1 is the way to go right now if you are just trying to see if a MRDS is for you. If you already know it works for you and you are using it for a duty weapon or something where it will see a ton of rounds the extra for the type 2 may be worth it.
I haven't had any issues with my type 1 using the Battle Werx sealing plate, but if you do have issues Trijicon will take care of you.
I'm really not a fan of the auto adjusting on the type 2, so I probably wouldn't choose that over a type 1 at the same price.
