    Week 243: SHO FAST

    Week 243: SHO FAST

Results may be posted until December 17th, 2017.

    Designed by: Todd Louis Green
    Range: 7 yards
Target: 3x5" card and 8" circle
Start Position: Concealed or retention holster, hands naturally at sides
    Rounds Fired: 60

This is just running the FAST ten times using your strong hand only for the draw, reload, and all shots fired. A description of the FAST is located here: http://pistol-training.com/fastest

Only run this week's drill if you have formal professional instruction in the proper way to draw and reload using only your strong hand and you are confident you can do so safely.

There are a variety of things that can go wrong if you don't know what you're doing and some of those "wrongs" involve bullets entering your body.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

    - Gun and holster used
    - Draw and reload for each run
    - Total score for each run (including penalties for misses)
    - Anything you noticed

If you cannot perform this drill, the alternative DotW is as follows:

    Range: 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25yd
Target: B16 repair center - download here: https://pistol-forum.com/attachment....2&d=1322428754
    Start position: Any
    Rounds fired: 50

Fire ten rounds at each distance. Use a separate target for each distance to make scorekeeping easier. Shots that land off the paper score zero.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

    - Score for each distance
    - Anything you noticed

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

    String 3: 14.28 2.25 draw, 8.25 reload
    String 4: 11.75 2.67 draw, 6.07 reload

    String 7: 12.23 2.48 draw, 6.29 reload
    String 8: 13.47 -1H 2.61 draw, 7.27 reload
    String 9: 12.41 2.52 draw, 6.79 reload
    String 10: 11.69 2.04 draw, 6.26 reload

Clearly I should not have put that first run on the timer It has been a while since I have done one handed reloads and it showed. Things definitely got better as they went along. In all of the times I have done one handed work in classes, I don't recall it ever being on the timer. Of course with a line full of people safety is the primary concern. This was good to practice. After doing so poorly on the time for the one handed draws, I went on to practice just that for a while. This was a good session for me to do today as I have a lump on the inside of my support side wrist and got to give it a break for these.

Ran this 6 times from carry gear

    40.26
    17.30
    17.34
    15.29
    14.59
    14.31

When I pushed speed missed shots,
    Pretty simple

Glad I didn’t miss the head shots too much but made more sure to hit well versus when I had the bigger target...
