For a body shot, not much difference again between 9 and Super. For a determined attack, the reliable way to stop a charge is touching the brain, and again I am not sure how much difference there is between a Lehigh Penetrator in 9 versus Super. Another part of the analysis is I have been shooting a Glock almost every day in practice and competition since July, and I really do believe in bullet placement first. If the Acro was here, it would be an absolute no brainer.

Which 6.5 cartridge, and let’s hear more details. The last two years, my elk has been harvested at about 440 and 350 yards, and even with perfect bullet placement I worry about the power difference between a 6.5 and .300 WM, if we are talking Creedmore.
+1. I had complete confidence in the .40 I carried hiking for the reasons you articulate. If I thought there was increased risk for you I wouldn't even joke about it. 😁

A .375 H&H is my Kodiak deer hunting rifle, but not flat enough shooting for where I hunt elk and mule deer.
I have a lightweight WM, built off a Tikka action. She’s not fun to shoot at ALL. Lol

I’ve taken my 375 out to 400 in field shooting positions practicing for this season. I’m pretty confident with it at that range.

I’ve always wanted to go after a Kodiak deer. I hear they really fill up a freezer. 😉

No other ammunition info was provided in the short Glock 20 article unfortunately, not even the bullet weight. It would have been nice to have the ammo decision fleshed out, but it was a “color” article given as an aside to the main 10mm article.

I think I already know the answer but I'll ask to be sure since y'all know more about this than I do. How would 7.62x39 work for outdoors defense in areas where there aren't brown bears? Mostly blackies and cougars around here. On that same note, what about .300 blackout?

    About like a .30-30.

Pretty much what I was about to type. I have black bears and cougars a hundred yards from my front door, and often tote a .30-30 with complete confidence. I'd have no problem carrying a 7.62x39, as long as I didn't have to shoot out of some damn commie gun.
I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.
