Yep, the IG pic would indicate that was indeed the case.
The path of least resistance will seldom get you where you need to be.
The thing that saved him was not being on the streets.
That's a hell of a story, as was the ice axe one.
.375 is the school solution as a grizzly caliber, but I don't think any bolt rifle is ideal for defending against a short range charge/FUT. This story only underscores that.

I should probably have added to my last post, that I stopped a brown bear charge on Kodiak at around 12 yards with a .375 H&H model 70 bolt, but there are better choices for defense.
