I've seen a few bears in the WA Cascades and Olympics. They don't like people very much. Best just stay away. If they feel threatened they either run away or jump you.
I was hiking in the Olympics years ago and had a sow and 2 cubs near our camp. We packed up and moved as fast as we could. I don't need to hang around so I can post some video. In Washington state, the only recorded fatal black bear attack on a human was reported in 1974. Since 1970, state authorities have recorded 19 other human-black bear encounters that resulted in a documented injury. https://wdfw.wa.gov/newsroom/wdfw-st...ented%20injury.
In the P-F basket of deplorables.
