I’m becoming a K frame addict. I bought a 6” M19-3 this past Fall, and a 4” M19-3 last month. I haven’t shot either of them much, but the 4” is my carry revolver for the day. Frank Jr and I made a quick trip to the range today, and these are my 6 shots at 10 yards. My local range is disgusting and unventilated, so if I’m killing it, six shots is plenty for me.

I’d like to get a 2” M10, but even this are priced high on GB.

Well. I am casting around for options for my ‘2024 experience’ and landed here. I may have some questions after class.

Be back after reading the thread.

You are getting down the road to becoming well rounded.

I would nominate either the mastery of the 2" snub, options abound, but the classic would be the 5 shot S&W J frame or Ruger LCR/LCRx hideout revolver, or go for the 4" service revolver, if the later, get one in .357 so you can run both .38 special and .357 as part of the experience.

I had a .357 LCR and traded it for the .38 to save 4 oz for carry. I shoulda kept both, but the .38 was $369 new so it seemed like a good idea at the time (wow that was 4 years ago now).

Still reading. I like blue guns. And wood. And something DA to practice trigger press, but that absorbs recoil more than my LCR. No need for magnum loads.

Watched a lot of Adam-12 as a kid. A used Model 10 with 4” barrel maybe? Hoping not to spend over $500. This is a want, not a need, so I’m just feeling things out at the moment.

solid choice, then the question becomes heavy barrel or pencil barrel, my preference is the later but not because they shoot better, just lighter

The factory nickel versions are out there, as are some round butt versions but the square butt was produced by probably millions...

I'm going to humbly suggest something with adjustable sights, which will be easier to see, and to dial in to your preferred ammo. It's not going to be a carry piece, so no need to handicap yourself with the fixed variety. So, Model 15/19/586 or Ruger GP100 or Security-Six. A skinny-barrel Model 10 would be easier to find in your price range, though. I would haunt the used shelves of gun shops and pawn shops and whatnot.

The lighter guns carry nice but the steel frame guns are easier and more fun to shoot.

The grips are Spegel Boot Plus, ammo is Ranger Bonded 130-grain JHP. This is the only K frame I have that doesn’t shoot to POA with 158s.

ETA: Yes, that is a crappy iPhone photo with a paper shop towel for a background.
