J&G is where I saw them. They have a few option that shouldn't need any work in the $300-350 range. I know the $300 and under are gunsmith specials.

Try checking gun.deals too for others.

Haha the raison d'aitre for my first reloading press was a Ruger Blackhawk I got for 300 bucks...only thing was it was a .41 mag.

Sold the Ruger a while back, but I still have the dies, brass and probably some projectiles lying around...so the natural progression of this was "oh shit, I need a Smith model 57 because reasons"

    ^^^ Interesting.

Ive watched K frame Smiths off and on on gunbroker, there are some fair deals now and then. I think part of the thing is theres so many that some fall through the cracks and dont get bids. Under $300 seems doable if one watches a bit and doesnt get emotionally involved with a gun if it starts bidding up. The few things Ive bought on gunbroker, I was the only bidder for most.

BTW, I have a fair pile of K triggers if anyone needs any. Cheap. Old school carbon steel with grooved faces, service width. One of those gunbroker things.

I really need a couple of those plus a fedora and trench coat to go with them.

I'm going to see if the shop that does transfers for me will do a pass-through on that and just mark it up by the amount of a transfer fee.

    And a sap.
I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.

I've got a couple of those DAO M64s. You can replace the bobbed hammer with a standard DA type that can be cocked SA style. The trigger action is so nice & smooth on mine, that I just left them as is.
