I am not familiar with either of those safes but I’ve been really happy with this:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A1...ID=81r6SvNyMpL

I like that it doesn’t require any batteries. It’s as fast to get into as I expect modern technology to allow.

When I was researching, granted 3 or so years ago, I found a lot of the electronic locks were lacking. I ended up with the fort knox pistol box
    https://www.ftknox.com/shop/original...cate-included/

I know the simplex lock is defeated by the brute force method and won't keep out a determined individual. But I think it's enough to deter an overly inquisitive kid.

I have the SV500. It is used to store my holstered J-frame. My carry USP9c is either on me or in my Safariland ALS while I sleep. The SV500 will lock you out if you fat finger a button several times, which is not acceptable. The J comes out and the 9c goes in if need be, but I do not rely on it to hold the house gun.
Taking a break from social media.

I've got its bigger brother, the "BRUTE" in my bedroom and it's a great little safe.

Quick, easy and I can put three guns in it when I run out to the store for errands. (I can get a G17, G19 and a S&W 642 in it, each holstered or with triggers covered for safety.)

Have you already picked out where the safe will be located? How do the differing ergonomics of accessing the data pads on these safes impact your decision? Is this safe to deter thieves or to deter children? I ask the last question as that is how I'm determining what I'm going to use for my bedroom. I'm relying on the real safe to protect from thieves. My sidearm becomes my nightstand sidearm. But I do want a long gun in the bedroom. I'm mainly concerned with that firearm being protected from inquisitive kids than realistically stopping a bad guy from stealing it. He'll have to get through the mal and pittie first, anyhow. To that end I've been looking at items like those linked below for a long gun. The easiest/cheapest solution is to install a simple rack and then bring a firearm from the safe every day and lock it back up when I'm out rather than buying yet another thing that is a compromise solution. (Thus the indecision).

Personally I like the look of the Gun Vault product. I'm curious in how you plan on attaching this thing permanently/semipermanently to your bedroom. I was looking at an automobile gun safe with a cable to thread through the bed frame but that's a meh solution, as well.

Help me pick a bedroom pistol safe

I have used several of the Ft Knox safes daily for years and love them.

I had a budget electronic safe and found it lacking at times and dealing with batteries was a pain. Eventually it died and I tossed it in favor of the second Ft Knox.

This one easily holds two full sized pistols and mags.

This one is smaller but the door opening may be better for you. I like it but prefer the first.

Most of the handgun “safes” on Amazon are but minor deterrents to kids wanting to play with your gun and mere afterthoughts for a burglar. Take a look at this article and video of 3-year olds defeating various handgun safes.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.for...-year-old/amp/

There are similar videos on the internet depicting kids defeating the various “Vault” series of handgun safes, so parent beware.

IMHO, the best value bedroom firearm security device is the AMSEC Defense Vault DV652. It’s not a safe, nor does it offer any protection against fire or moisture. It is designed for those who have studied the trade offs between rapid access vs. security, and mainly want to protect against “friendly intruders” such as your kids gaining access to your primary weapon system.

It weights about 100lbs and can be bolted to the floor which keeps kids from flipping it around and deters burglars from carrying it off. It fits under most beds and many other types of bedroom furniture. It also has superior construction to most handgun “Vault” type devices against hammer and crow bar attacks - meaning it will take 2-5 min instead of 30 seconds for a determined burglar to open it. Most importantly, it stores long guns and night vision under the bed which are the 2 things I want when hunting in my home.

    Cost is about $400 delivered.

Sensei, I don't own one and am not in the market for that product but the reviews on amazon are not glowing for the AMSEC Defense Vault DV652:

44 reviews is a pretty low N for internet surveys.
