YVK,
How do you like the Shield Driver sights?
I've always admired Ned C of Michiguns. Beyond his top level smithery He's a nice guy who doesn't mind helping the beginners out.
Love them. Robust, he can do any rear notch width, buried rear tritium lamp, one handed capability and rear face profile that's both doesn't snag and doesn't print as much. The motive for this one was AIWB-friendly all-steel Govt 1911 and the rear sight was something we didn't need to re-invent.
Cool deal. Always wondered what folks thought of them.
Thanks
And I just realized the purpose of the grip safety build up is to prevent hammer irritation for AIWB. Am I right?
Not originally.
Depending on the beavertail it may or may not help.
Yep, that and snag too.
There are multiple things that we thought were important for AIWB. This is probably the only 1911 in the world that was converted from S70 to S80 on my request. The carry safety is not what pictured but an ambi type for reholstering. There's something else that I can't talk about yet. And Ned's trademark work on weight reduction, bordering on insane

Saw this build on LTW. Insanely cool
