Election Day 2020. Do you have faith in your Government?
I received my 9mm Commander back from Evolution Armory this week. This was not my first 1911 but is my first custom build. Mark and team were great to deal with and the pistol is exactly as I envisioned. I am thrilled!
This started as a 9mm Combat Commder I picked up a couple years ago with the intent of doing a retroish build.
The work includes Kart NM ramped barrel, EGW bushing and recoil spring plug, Harrison fcg, solid long trigger, retro rear sight, retro thumb safety, and grip safety. FCG pins and series 80 parts are Cylinder and Slide. The MSH is a Chen round butt and its been blended with a beautifully blended magwell bevel. Other machine work includes, milling the front sight, lowering the ejection port, checkering the front strap and undercutting the trigger guard, blending the grip safety, and a carry bevel. An extended ejector was added, a new extractor fitted and tuned with the original tuned and retained as a spare, and a new firing pin retainer fitted and beveled. The whole pistol was then reblued.
I was able to put 100 rounds through it at the local indoor range yesterday and it was exceedingly accurate and 100 reliable with the Wilson ETM magazines I brought.
Please forgive the volume and quantity of pictures, but I'm pretty excited!
@rd62 - very nice. I like your choice of rear sight -- I've had that part on a couple of guns and it works well.
If I wanted some custom work done, EA would be way up on my list.
Ditto on the retro rear — I have it on a couple of guns and it is my favorite.
Ignore Alien Orders
@rd62 that is basically the mental pic I have of my Combat Commander's end game. I've toyed with the idea of getting it sent out for checkering, BTGS, and a dovetailed front. I have installed a 10-8 retro sight, an ed brown barrel and thumb safety and a short trigger (my preference)
Nothing beats a retro look and super car performance. Awesome work by Evolution!

@rd62 great specs on that build, the styling is perfect for that 1911. I always respect these traditional builds especially the blueing.
Thanks guys! The blueing really turned out nicely and my crappy pics don't do it justice.
It'll look even better with some holster wear. Now I need some good leather and maybe some new grips. I'd like some rampant pony medallions.
You can get traditionally-styled wood stocks with the Colt medallion from johnmasen.com. Just be aware that they show a picture of walnut stocks with the description cocobolo and vice versa.
Another option is WoodCaliber.com. On their site you can custom order a nice set of stocks with a medallion. They do really nice work.

My Glenn above is wearing medallion stocks from nutmeg. They usually have them in stock. I have three or four sets.
