Colt Series 80 Enhanced in .38 Super with much the same mods as the Delta Elite above. Except for the sights... Much as I hate the "surface-mount" Novaks, I hate grinding on and rebluing a pretty Colt slide even more. (I did, however, have the front sight hole hogged out to take a .125" tenon.) Yeah, it was a "Barbecue Gun".

5" Springfield Lightweight. Ed Brown sear & disconnect, STI polycarbonate & titanium trigger, nylon MSH from a Kimber, titanium mainspring cap... For a 5" 1911, this thing was freaky light. Ran good, but recoil was beastie for a full-size gun with full-house defensive loads. Carried nicely, though.

    Books. Bikes. Boomsticks.

I can explain it to you. I can’t understand it for you.

More so, due to the fact that membership of this site is well aware of contemporary performance standards set by Glocks and HKs and is generally free of brand- and type-specific fanboyism, I would hazard a guess that there are more well-built, proven-reliable, hard-used 1911s here than on any other website.
And, while 70K tests are admirable and important, 3800 MRBS is an excellent performance that, I believe, exceeds a factory guarantee for any modern pistol out there.
Good answer. I have some 1911s that have been road hard and put away wet including a Concept 8 (stainless 4.25") Les Baer that made it through an AFHF without an issue.

Built using quality parts and a little maintenance they will run. Not sure if they would make 50K plus rounds the way Todd runs his guns but he is a rare species.

    Speaking of rare species:

And my winter project, a Colt 9mm Commander upper and parts on a botched frame from an unknown source:

When I get done it will have a new frame, longer solid trigger, 10-8 NM sights, beavertail, and the nickel plating will be long gone.

    Tam, beautiful guns and photos.

Also, I had the same benchmade auto for almost 2 years. Good knife.

Not that I was thinking about mailing you one, but this pair of Colts (one .45, one a 9mm) run just fine for me. I wouldn't dismiss the New Agent / Defender platform out of hand. Or out of two hands.
