I had some FTEs with coated steel case from Freedoom Munition in my SA RO 1911 9mm 5 inch. Dropped the FM ammo and FTEs stopped.

Maybe. It's one of the reasons I buy Winchester Forged. If a gun will cycle that it'll probably cycle anything.

I've never had a positive experience with 1911s and steel cased ammo.

Other guns may run the stuff fine, but I don't run it in my 1911s. Ain't gonna feed a Ferrari regular unleaded.

Well a used Springfield Range Officer isn't really comparable to a Ferrari. More like a Fiero with a fake Lambo body kit.

I saw a cool video of a dude that turned a Fiero into an off road car. So I hop on Craigslist and people want real money for those things. I couldn't believe it.

I endurance raced a v6 fiero with a Muncie 4-speed at Road Atlanta in a 14 hour crap can race that had Randy Pobst among other pros in attendance. It was twitchy AF but man that thing was tough.

Ive had 4 Springfield 1911sover there years. Ive never had a malf with steel cased ammo in them.

I have been mulling over 9mm 1911's for some time now. I had to jump on this because they were a little under $580 so it was a good opportunity to try the platform for a low cost. I've only fired 100 rounds through it but I was shooting Winchester Forged steel cased ammo. Only malfunction was the failure to extract I mentioned. The gun fed the rounds perfectly so far. When I was looking at new guns I was seriously considering spending the extra money on a Dan Wesson over a Springfield and I may still get a DW.

Haha same, although I probably don't need a new 1911, I could use a few more 580 dollar Springfield 1911s
