The new Pointman Carry is 9mm. I have not shot it enough to comment on reliability, just 145 rounds so far. Rather obviously I trust DW to make a 9mm 1911 reliable, but I would trust Wilson to do the same. How did Wilson respond when you discussed the matter with them?
I adjusted the extractor tension after talking with Bill, which made it run standard pressure self defense ammo, federal AE 124’s and my 124gr reloads.

I sold the pistol for a small loss. As I’m sure all of us 1911 owners have experienced, a 3k+ pistol not running out of the box leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I’ve had Wilson 9mm’s in compact, professional, and currently own a Commander and full size. The only reliable ones from the start have been the commander and full size. My full size super grade eats anything I throw at it, so far the Commander has as well.

On a side note, I have 2 45’s, a WC and a gun I built, with WELL over 15k rounds a piece and 0 malfunctions. I carry the one I built quite often.

Here’s a pic of the ULCC I sold off.

I made my biweekly trip to the range yesterday. As often happens, I reminded myself why I love 1911’s so much.

I shot Kyle Defoors pistol test, 10 rounds in 20sec on a B8 @25yds with my 45 I built using my 200gr SWC loads. I shot 3 consecutive strings (using WC 10 round mags), and the lowest score was a 92. My slowest time was 13.8, and fastest was a 9.9. Coincidently the fastest time was my best score.

After YEARS of shooting Glocks, I still struggle shooting a 90 in under 20sec. And by struggle, I mean maybe 40% of the time. Conversely, I can’t remember a time I didn’t easily pass it with a 1911.

This was my first 1911. This was back in the day when you had to wait over a year for a CQB. IIRC I waited 15 months for this gun.

Recently acquired from the family collection

Family lore says my grandfather “brought it back from the war.” I have no idea if that is true but it has been in the family for more than 60 years.

I checked the serial number on Colt’s website. It was manufactured in 1913.
