Agreed. Situational. Declawing a cat in that scenario is pretty terrible thing to do.
Togetherness. Doing good getting the new rescue to accept the cat. Jealousy has to be managed carefully.
His version of ‘be nice’ is following her around with a big toy in his mouth, his nose in her but, and the tail beating everythign in sight like a fast metronome. She, on the other hand, is intent on reclaiming her right to free moevment, and her position as the indoor snooze queen in various choice places, and the outdor “Mistress of the Night’.

My cat is strictly an indoor cat.
I can see Willard's reason for having his cat declawed.
We have a lot of indoor cats around here that get out...once.
