Well, I finally followed @JAD’s advice and added a new member to the family.
Meet Dudley, a 67lb (I think) 3.5 YO Boxer-Pitbull mix (I think, was advertised as Boxer-Mastiff), a rescue that has been through 2 foster parents after being surrendered. He is made of 100% pure awesomeness - loves people, strong food, play, affection and prey drives. He has some light watch dog tendencies, and I think would be effective if I needed guard dog capabilities.

Seriously nice looking dog. The rescue and your vet will likely continue to list him as a “boxer-mastiff” mix as some homeowners insurance and other oxygen thieves freak out over Pibbles.
