Almost a year ago we adopted this little malnourished puppy from the local shelter. He’s got a lot of Shepard in him, but we haven’t bothered with genetic testing to figure out the rest. He’s 90lbs now and a very good boy. Like anything worth doing it’s work, but our family is enriched with him around.

Thanks! He is a Dutch Shepherd and my retired K9. They’re cousins to Malinois. Dutchie owners all say their dogs follow them everywhere.

Nice! I was paging up from the bottom and saw CSW quote you with the pic. My first thought was Dutchie and perhaps a retired K9. Then I saw you say so.
I have been thinking that maybe, just maybe my next dog would be a female Dutch Shepherd. I will have wait and see if it truly is in the cards for me. My buddy lives right down the road in Northern New Jersey from a breeder/trainer who is highly regarded and works with NYPD. That may be one place to inquire.

We had to put my buddy down last October. Friend and companion of 14 years. It hurt a lot. After a few weeks, the wife and I realized how quiet the house was. I had emailed the breeder we had got Max from to let her know we lost him. He was the third GSP we had got from her. All of them were superb hunters and dear family companions. She let us know there were a few litters planned this year... Today was the day. It’s been a quite a few years since I’ve trained a gun dog. Time to see if raising 3 kids has garnered me any additional skills. Lol
