And remember when demons and beasts cast their darkness, you have God's love - and Browning's wrath - to guide you.
I buried Callie this morning. Picked her up at a shelter in April of 21 and the shelter guessed her to be 15 years old then.
My heart goes out to you who have lost your companions recently. It hurts. We here on this thread all know and share your pain.
We last went through it on September 19, 2023...and July 5, 2013 before that. Not looking forward to the next time I have to hold my pup in my arms while taking its last breath.
I wish you all better days ahead.
Be careful what you wish for. You might get it.
This was the day after we brought her home just back from the groomers. Her hair was matted up so bad she had trouble moving. She dropped and started rolling in the yard as soon as she got out of the car. She had been a stray for a few years, people would feed her but none gave her a home or any care. She had some damage to her jaw the vet took care of and then had a few good years before her health started getting bad.
Most of my dogs have been rescue or pound dogs. A couple were not on the adoptable list, but I talked them into it, with very good dogs resulting. I suspect the most recent one was some sort of problem, she was returned once, but she has become a very good dog also. Still needs a little work, but a very good dog.
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”
― Theodore Roosevelt
