    Sig P229 .40 S&W YEEHAA!!!!

Ok! I ordered this from an online dealer a few days, and it arrived this afternoon. The dealer described them as government trade-ins, and most of the reviewers said theirs looked brand new. Mine sure does, and it shoots dead on! I paid $475 shipped, and since it’s a Sig Certified pistol, it comes with a one year warranty from Sig. The recoil is almost nonexistent, and I had to wrestle it away from my wife...lol! The price I paid was only good for a few days, and they’re back up to $575. I’m carrying it in a Galco IWB holster, and it’s soooo comfortable(!!!). Trigger pull with a Lyman digital scale averaged 8lbs 8oz DA, and 3lbs 5oz SA. The DA is like butter!

    That's a damn fine legacy 229.

I generally hate on 40, but the 229 is one of the best platforms to launch it from.

I am very tempted to snag a 229 trade in that hit my inbox today. They are 9mm and $489.

I have a lot of different pistol calibers, but never one in .40, so I just had to get it. I’ve shot .40 before, and it was snappy, but this pistol has the recoil of a Sig P238 (!!!).

That looks like a deal. I got mine from Sportsmans Guide, and the whole Sig Certified got me. They only have them in .40, however...

Nice grab! My first pistol love was the Sig 229 in 40. Carried one for 5 years, a factory 2 tone. Had a few others too that I put mileage on with training and such. I didn't understand the complaints about the snappiness of .40 until I shot a Glock. My first 2 pistols were a Ruger P94 and then the 229, so recoil was a total non issue. I still have my old carry 229 and a 229 Sport, but I don't shoot them much anymore. I'll have to break them out soon.

I watched Hickok45’s .40 vs .Sig 357 video tonight, and was surprised to see the amount of recoil he was getting with a .40 Glock. One of the guys that works at the LGS told me that he loves Sigs in .40, and said their design reduces recoil better than others. I generally carry a 1911 in .45, and the 229 has much less snappiness. I’ve heard people say the .45 is like a shove, and .40 is like a punch, but that seems to depend on the pistol, not the caliber.

Yeah, the 229 is one of the easiest shooting .40's around (the little 239 ain't bad at all either). Nice pistol. The 229 was my first .40 back in '93 or '94. I still love the caliber regardless of being currently 'out of fashion' or what the 9mm Bandwagon Brigade proselytizes. Enjoy!

If you still stock .40 to any extent (and I do) the current deals on CPO Sigs are eyebrow-raising. Excellent-condition P229s and P226s in the 400-500 range are sound investments. I got my P229 for about $475 and my P226 for about $550 (and my 9mm P226 for about $450 as well). I balk at the 800-900 range for new-in-box Sigs, but they're arguably the best value on the used market.
