Thread: Week 238: 666 Drill

Steadily closing the gap between @GJM and myself. A few more years......
Today I wanted to do a bit better on this drill than earlier......plus I bought a mag carrier.........yesterday.......and wasn't thinking during dinner........had two beers.........then didn't dry fire with said mag carrier.....I am pathetic.......
PX4CC w/crappy $10 Galco holster (waiting on my JMCK AIWB)
    2.01, .40, 3.68 mag change, .49, .42, .35 total of 7.35 @ 7 yards 6 out of 6 hits

I have to practice on reloading my pistol. Drills like this are a challenge as I am still working on basics- i.e- Dot Torture @ 3 yards, Bill Drills in under 4.00 seconds. Another fun drill and glad to have my times documented for the next time it rolls around.

First run of this was clean in 5.28. I shot it with the 9mm Operator from an OWB under an open vest. I did brain cramp and shot it from 7 yards. Will give this one a go again soon. I shot it once more and really crushed the reload but so fast I didn't finish re-establishing my grip and threw a few shots out of the A zone and I didn't score it being seized with self loathing and disgust.

    Beretta 92, AIWB, t-shirt - USPSA A zone.

Shot this 4 times, all clean. Had some issues grabbing my shirt on a couple of the reloads.

Equipment used: PX4CC, crappy Galco holster
    Penalties 1
Total score 6.94- best time. Shot three times overall- with penalties- 6.56 (1 miss), 6.94 (1 miss), 7.73 (2 miss)
Anything you noticed- Yes- draw times improvement- best draw was at 1.85. Two mag changes under 3.00 seconds. Getting quicker overall- accuracy went a tad backward- but still pretty happy.

Much better than my first iteration doing this drill. I am happy with the PX4CC- really good drill.

Great- posting right below @Mr_White and his 3.26, lol.

First ran this a few weeks ago on 10/21 range trip.

Shot a G19 from concealment with an AIWB holster and reload. Target was a B8 center with black being the ideal target, but counting anything vertically on the sheet of paper above/below the black as "in" to replicate A zone.

    Run 1: 4.91 + 1C = 5.91
Run 2: 7.16 clean, but fumbled reload which led to a long time
    Run 3: Ran 5.45 clean

Overall performed sort of meh on the 3 runs. Felt like times were generous, but felt like I dropped shot when I shouldn't have, and had slow draws and sloppy reloads. I do feel like I made better use of the full 6 seconds on the latter runs compared to the first one where I left about a second on the table. Biggest takeaway was to work reloads

Ran this drill a second time on 11/11. Again used a G19 from concealment, with holster and reload AIWB.

Goal was to shoot sights and make use of the time without going too fast or too slow.

    Run 1 = 6.63 seconds clean - slow reload
Run 2 = 6.39 seconds clean - slow reload again
Run 3 = 5.10 seconds clean - finally calmed down on the reload and made the time
Run 4 = 5.06 seconds clean - took a video of this run. Had a slower reload but made the time anyways. Had to be conscious not to shoot to fast so as to make sure I didn't throw a shot and shoot my phone lol.

Biggest takeaway from that video is I need to tactical turtle less and try to not move my head down as much.
