Thread: DOTW with TDA

    DOTW with TDA

Mainly for @Mr_White - is there a different time standard guideline for people who engage with a DA trigger pull for the first round? I have seen a credit at times for drawing from a concealed starting position.

I’m not Gabe, but I wouldn’t give any extra time for TDA. I personally don’t think TDA is inferior to striker fired. I agree with adjusting time for certain holsters, but not for TDA.

I'm not saying I would either for sure as a clarification.

I thought Gabe gave a .25 addition so you have time to cock the hammer.

If you mean in my class testing, no difference for TDA.

Historically, some people have considered TDA to be slower for the first shot, but it certainly doesn't have to be that way.

Or to put the first round in the dirt lol. Unfortunately that could cause a problem on my ranges concrete floor.

Thanks Gabe! Again this was out of curiosity, not so much as advocating for a different time standard.

I also forgot to say that in my testing, Turbo Pins have been won by shooters with a few different guns/triggers: HK LEM (expert hybrid match), stock Gen3 Glock 34, and Beretta 92A1 (Langdonized.)

I wouldn't give TDA credit for a different first shot time. It doesn't have to be slower. It has to be manipulated with a steeper application of pressure to the trigger.

As a Striker Guy now competing with a TDA, I'll support Gabe's point. First shot definitely doesn't have to be slower. In fact, finally I'm at the point, after quite a bit of work, where I would rather take a hard shot with my Shadow 2 in DA than with a Glock 34.
