Thread: S&W Governor

Friends in Montana, the wife carried a Judge with shot as a grizzly bear defensive gun. I did my best to explain to her why that was not a good choice.

S, I know nothing about .410 handguns. Why do you want one?

Is it fair to call the .410 revolvers "a solution in search of a problem"?
If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.

I've got one as my main HD firearm, loaded with birdshot.

Living in an area with lots of rattlers I once looked at a Judge for weekend carry around the orchards and woodlots while I was doing chores. I bought an old model .45 Vaquero and call it the "Single Malt Judge."

I know from experience a CCI shotshell out of a 4" 357mag will nearly decapitate a 5' rattlesnake. No need for a dedicated 410 revolver.

Your 45 with shotshells will be a better solution. Load the first round up as a shotshell and follow up by solids.

Regarding the OP, while I don't have a need for a 410 handgun, if you got a good deal, have fun with it. It doesn't have to be a "Srs Bsns" gun. I've looked into reloading 410 (I have a 410 shotgun) and have learned it's quite easy to reload by hand (hand tools, no press). A friend of mine does that for his shotgun. You can pretty much do the entire process without specialized tools. Maybe this is an excuse to experiment with "interesting" 410 loads. I envision a load using no. 9 shot for blasting hand thrown clays at close distance like a modern Wild West show.
