One person is dead, and a Baxter Springs officer is in serious condition at a Springfield hospital after they were set on fire during a domestic disturbance call early Saturday morning. Sheriff David Groves says the suspect broke into the home of 65-year-old Sharon Horn at 1007 W.11th Street in Baxter Springs just before 1:30 a.m and was physically assaulting her. She was able to call police, and once they arrived, the suspect doused her in fuel, two Baxter Springs officers, and subsequently himself before igniting a fire. Another officer was injured while trying to extinguish the flames. Groves gives News Talk KZRG an update on the condition of the victims.
