Lotta out of state, off duty cops were there. Hell, I was out front of the Mandalay Bay Saturday afternoon. Several of our officers and their family members were there....one officers daughter is in ICU with a collapsed lung. A coworkers wife has been missing since last night. Minutes ago we heard she was found among the dead. Fuck. Just fuck.
Reading the replies, was this concert heavily attended by off duty military and LEO? The room placement, stockpiling/secretion of weapons in secrecy and non assuming demeanor just seems too well planned.

While I believe that this happened on Sunday, I'd guess it was a third option: a couple of drunk or high folks running their mouths in a crowd.
My thought as well. Possibly a reaction to the collection of "rednecks" by a couple of locals. Had there not been a mass murder, nobody would have ever mentioned it.
On the whole planning angle, I am starting to wonder if his increase in gambling before the shooting was to secure the room. I am pretty sure the hotel was booked up early so unless he was planning this for a long time he might have upped his play to get the room through a casino host. Typically the marketing department has blocks of room set aside to make available to "players" based on how they gamble. They might not have given him the room for free but they could have let him pay for the room from their block of rooms.
People say weird shit at concerts. I've never had someone tell me that we're all gonna die though. I'd like to think that'd freak me the fuck out enough to report the person or get out of the area but who knows.
I can't imagine what I would do if my child we're in the ICU with a collapsed lung, after something like this. I have absolutely no idea how I would continue to breath without my wife.
I know nothing I could say to them would help, and probably nothing anyone says will help right now. But if you get a chance, tell them that we're here and we wish we could say something that would help. That we're praying and thinking of them. They aren't alone, and there are people who care.

Those factions are relatively localized, and not radicalized in the same way as ISIS with HGEs. They, frankly, don't care about what goes on in America. They're busy fighting the government, controlling hamlets, fighting a communist faction, and ripping off money from adventurous tourists.
This would be a very unusual relationship.
