    At this point you have a very fine cylinder bore coach gun. I seriously doubt that choke tubes would add to the gun's usefulness. 16 gauge buckshot is limited to a narrow choice so experimentation is limited. Modern shotgun shell wads enclose the shot and this arrangement will make your cylinder chokes shoot a tad tighter. Also, larger shot sizes(6 compared to 8)will usually result in tighter patterns. I say this because you may wish to include the Ithaca on squirrel or rabbit hunts. For quail hunting you have a good companion too. For more information about any topic pertaining to patterns, loads, and suitable gunsmiths, you might consult this outfit. ballisticproducts.com

    Since you've no choke left, you could also try 16ga slugs.

    Indeed! I'm not counting on the POA/POI being very close beyond 25 yards, but I will be finding out. :-)

    Do I remember something about not shooting slugs in side by sides? Something about stressing the joint between the barrels?

    A quick search did not reveal any problems doing so.

    With no choke and equal weight-velocity compared to shot, I can't think of any reason slugs would be any harder on the gun. Getting them to hit the target out of a SxS is another matter.

    Thanks!

    Strictly aesthetics. I was thinking 21" as it would still fit in my travel duffel diagonally, but 20" fits perfectly.

    HiViz sight installed, drilled & tapped rib for 6-48 screw included with sight. Here's Mr. Fudd's business end, hopefully will test fire and pattern this weekend;

    Looks great! If you find yourself in the southern part of the state sometime, come shoot clay birds some Saturday morning in Mont Vernon for $4/25 shots. Be a great workout for the chopped fudd gun.
